VPSA Oxygen Generator, which can extract oxygen from the air on a large scale, is based on the principle of vacuum pressure swing adsorption. It utilizes the characteristic of molecular sieves to preferentially adsorb nitrogen, completes adsorption under working conditions near atmospheric pressure, and then regenerates molecular sieves through vacuum desorption. The equipment has a high degree of automation, can stably produce oxygen with a purity of 90%-95%, and widely serves industries such as metallurgy, chemical industry, environmental protection and medical care.

Startup and Parameter Setting Procedures
The startup process of VPSA Oxygen Generators is simplified by their intelligent design, but strict adherence to operational steps is essential to protect the equipment. Before startup, conduct a pre-inspection: check that the power supply is stable, the pipeline valves are in the correct position (inlet and outlet valves open, bypass valve closed), and the lubricating oil level of the blower and vacuum pump is normal.
Turn on the main power switch, and the PLC control system will perform a self-check (lasting 30 seconds to 1 minute), including detecting the status of sensors, valves, and motors. After the self-check is passed, enter the touchscreen interface to set parameters: oxygen flow rate (e.g., 50Nm³/h for a small industrial unit), target purity (93% is the most common setting), and pressure (0.2MPa for pipeline supply). Click the "Start" button, and the system will automatically start the blower first—after the air pressure in the adsorption tower reaches 0.1MPa, the vacuum pump will start, initiating the adsorption-desorption cycle.
The equipment requires a warm-up period of 15-30 minutes to reach stable oxygen output. During this period, the oxygen purity will gradually rise from 21% (atmospheric oxygen content) to the target value. Operators should monitor the real-time data on the control panel: if the purity does not reach the set value after 30 minutes, check the molecular sieve status or air pre-treatment effect.
Daily Operation and Shutdown Guidelines
During normal operation, operators only need to conduct regular inspections every 2-4 hours, focusing on three key indicators: oxygen purity (displayed on the online analyzer, deviation ≤±1%), system pressure (stable at 0.15-0.25MPa), and equipment temperature (motor temperature ≤85°C, adsorption tower temperature ≤60°C). Record these data in the operational log to facilitate subsequent maintenance and troubleshooting.
If process adjustments are needed (e.g., increasing the oxygen flow rate due to increased production demand), modify the parameters through the touchscreen—each adjustment should not exceed 10% of the rated flow rate to avoid sudden changes in system pressure that damage the molecular sieve. For example, a 100Nm³/h generator can be adjusted from 80Nm³/h to 90Nm³/h at one time, and then to 100Nm³/h after 10 minutes of stabilization.
Shutdown procedures are equally important. For normal shutdown, first reduce the flow rate to 50% of the rated value through the control panel, then click the "Shutdown" button. The system will automatically stop the blower and vacuum pump after completing the current cycle (60-90 seconds), and close the inlet and outlet valves. For emergency shutdown (e.g., power failure or equipment failure), press the emergency stop button—this will immediately cut off the power supply to the motor and close the main valve to prevent backflow of gas. After emergency shutdown, conduct a comprehensive inspection before restarting to ensure no faults exist.
Outstanding Operational Advantages
The user-friendly operation of VPSA Oxygen Generators is complemented by multiple operational advantages. The fast start-up time (15-30 minutes) is a significant improvement over cryogenic distillation (which requires 4-6 hours of pre-cooling), making it suitable for emergency oxygen supply scenarios—for example, a hospital facing a sudden increase in oxygen demand can quickly start the backup VPSA system.
Low maintenance costs are another key benefit. Unlike liquid oxygen storage systems, which require regular replenishment and insulation maintenance, VPSA generates oxygen on-site with no need for raw material transportation or storage. The only regular replacements are air filter elements (every 3-6 months, cost of tens to hundreds of dollars) and molecular sieves (every 5-8 years), resulting in annual maintenance costs accounting for only 2%-3% of the equipment investment.
Strong environmental adaptability allows the generator to operate efficiently in a wide temperature range (-10°C to 45°C) and altitudes up to 3000 meters. In high-altitude areas such as the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, where the air pressure is low, the system can automatically adjust the blower speed to ensure sufficient air intake, maintaining stable oxygen output. This makes it suitable for both indoor fixed installations (e.g., factory workshops) and outdoor semi-mobile applications (e.g., construction sites or temporary medical camps).
In addition to VPSA Oxygen Generators, we also produce PSA Oxygen Generators, storage tanks, heat exchangers and other products. If you are interested in VPSA Oxygen Systems or other products, please feel free to send an email to info@gneeheatex.com. We will be very happy to serve you.
